The Nollywood star hails from Calabar, Cross River State, South-South Nigeria and was born the oldest child on the 19th of July, 1971 into a family of 4 children. Her primary education, she completed in Calabar, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. She moved to Lagos for her Secondary Education where she also obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.

After her secondary education in Lagos, she moved back to Cross River State for her University education at the University of Calabar, where she majored in and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Microbiology.

After her first degree, Kate headed towards Lagos again where she proceeded to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and completed her course in Medical Lab Science and automatically became a Med Lab Scientist.

As a Med Lab Scientist, Kate has worked at the Bauchi State General hospital as a medical laboratory scientist and special attendant.

In 2000, she got married to her longtime boyfriend Rod Nuttal and the marriage is blessed with a daughter, Gabrielle Nutall. The marriage broke down a few years afterwards and they both went their separate ways.

When many were still unfamiliar with Nollywood, Kate Henshaw joined the Nigerian movie industry in 1993. This was after she auditioned for the lead role in the movie “When the Sun Sets” which was also the movie that brought her to the limelight as well as brought a lot of advantages in Nollywood and attracted her to Nigerian movie directors and producers.
