Young African man who was rejected by 7 scholarships finally wins huge award to study in UK, celebrates success

A brilliant Nigerian man named Kelechi Chima has finally won a scholarship award to study at the University of Oxford, UK after being rejected by 7 scholarship bodies in his previous strives.

Kelechi Chima graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Nigeria, West Africa. After his Medicine degree, the young Doctor applied for 7 scholarships but was denied.

He however did not give up on his dreams and his efforts finally gave him success as he clinched the 2023 Rhodes Scholarship Award for West African Students.

The Rhodes Scholarship awards full sponsorship and a £17,310 yearly stipend to students to earn a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Kelechi Chima who shared his happiness on LinkedIn listed the scholarship he had previously applied for before finally winning the 2023 Rhodes Scholarships for West African Students, he said:

  • 2022 Rhodes Scholarships
  • 2022 Knight Hennessy Scholarships
  • 2022 LSHTM GSK Scholarships
  • 2022 LSHTM Graduate School Application

  • 2022 Stanford University Graduate Application
